Custom Coffee Bags with Valves
Coffee bags that keep beans fresh and look the part. Flat bottom, stand up and side gusset bags with one way degassing valves, printed for Canadian roasters from first roast to wholesale.

Why your coffee bag needs a valve
Freshly roasted coffee keeps releasing carbon dioxide for days after roasting. Seal it in a bag with no way out and the bag swells, sometimes until a seam gives. A one way degassing valve lets the CO2 escape while keeping out oxygen, which is what makes coffee go stale.
That’s why almost every specialty roaster uses valved bags for whole beans. Ground coffee gives off its gas faster, so a valve helps there too.
The valve sits on the front of the bag, usually near the top. We can place it where it suits your design, and it works with nitrogen flushing if you flush at filling.
Pick your coffee bag style
Flat bottom bag
Stands tall and steady, with a big front panel and printable sides. Usually closes with a pocket zipper. The premium look most specialty roasters go for.
Stand up pouch
Cost effective, with a wide front for your design and a zipper for easy resealing. A great fit for 250 g and 340 g retail bags.
Side gusset bag
The traditional coffee bag. Packs efficiently in cases, takes a tin tie or zipper, and works well for wholesale 1 kg and 2.27 kg (5 lb) bags.

Details roasters ask about
A spot for roast dates
Leave a matte panel or a white box where you can stamp or write the roast date and origin. Matte takes a marker much better than gloss.
Different roasts, one order
Digital printing lets you print each roast as its own design without plate costs, so a six coffee lineup doesn’t blow your budget.
The kraft paper look
Kraft outside with a foil or metallized liner gives you that natural look without giving up freshness.
Zipper or tin tie
Zippers are easiest for customers. Tin ties feel classic and suit side gusset bags.
Filling and nitrogen flushing
Our bags and valves handle nitrogen flushing. Need help filling? Our copacking partner Copacker.ca can fill and seal for you.
Subscriptions and online orders
Coffee bags are light and flexible, so they ship well in mailers and cost less to send than tins or jars.
Common questions
Don’t see yours? Ask it in the quote form and a real person will answer.
Do coffee bags need a degassing valve?
For whole bean coffee packed within a day or two of roasting, yes. Without a valve the CO2 has nowhere to go and the bag can puff up or burst. If you rest your beans for several days before packing, you can sometimes skip it, but most roasters keep the valve for peace of mind.
What size bag do I need for 340 g (12 oz) of coffee?
A stand up pouch around 7 x 10 in with a 3.5 in gusset, or a flat bottom bag around 5 x 8.5 in with a 3 in side gusset. Dark roasts need a touch more room. Our size guide has the full chart.
Can you print roast dates on the bags?
We print your artwork, so the easiest approach is to leave a clear matte area where you stamp or write the date after roasting. A small date label works too.
Are your coffee bags recyclable?
Standard coffee bags are made of several bonded layers, which makes them hard to recycle. If that matters to you, ask about recyclable mono material options. They work with valves, though the barrier is a little lower than foil.
Can I get coffee bags with a window?
Yes. A small window shows off the beans. Light speeds up staling though, so most roasters keep windows small or skip them for longer shelf life.
